Andhra Lutheran College of Education, Guntur was established in the year 1950. It is a Minority Aided Educational Institution. The Government of Andhra Pradesh issued Permanent Minority certificate on dated: 27-7-1999. The Andhra Lutheran College of Education is a part and parcel of Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church, Guntur Registered under the societies act.
The Andhra Christian College secured affiliation to the B.Ed. standard in 1950 and since then the B.Ed. functioned as one of its departments of instruction, in view of the growing educational needs of the country. The Andhra Evangelical Lutheran Church decided to put the B.Ed. on an independent basis in order to help community. Accordingly affiliation was secured in 1965 for a separate training college, which is now located in the Uhl Oswald compound, Brodipet. The Andhra Lutheran College of Education offers one year Post-Graduate course leading to the Master’s Degree in Education from the academic year 1972 – 73 .
1.  To provide better infrastructural facilities making provision for language laboratory by providing C.D.’S cassette, lingua phone, audio, video and instructional materials to develop communicative skills among the trainees.
2.   The management is planning to make the college as an important resource centre for conducting various in service programs for professional development of teachers working in secondary schools under the auspicious of the extension service unit.
3.   The institution is also planning to organize seminars and workshops on the curriculum revision and evaluation procedures recently introduced by the NCTE.
4.  The institution is also planning to actively involve the alumni in the developmental activities of institution
5.  The institution is planning to promote research by establishing a research unit with the help of the Management and UGC funds to encourage teacher trainees and teacher educators to carry action research on the problems faced by them
